A story of teenage angst; when a shy and rather timid young man, who is constantly bullied in high school by those the school considers "ideal" students, finds security in a group of kids who the school and society consider troublemakers. The plot is set in suburban Chicago during the late 1980s, a time when gangs from the city were starting to spread into the suburbs. Mario is a well-read but socially awkward teenager. After leaving the security of a paraochial school background, he enters his freshman year at a public school. Almost from his first day he is verbally attacked by some of the football players, due to his timidness and out of date clothing. The abuse escalates to other mean acts perpetrated by some of the school's student elite, until by chance he is forced into a fight with his main antagonist. With no chance of victory, help arrives in a way Mario thought was not possible. One the school considers a "problem-student" comes to Mario's aid, and a friendship is formed that will forever change Mario's life
After two years, Zach thought he was finally done with werewolves for good.  But when a stranger kidnaps him in his own back yard, he quickly discovers that the past isn't quite as dead as he'd like for it to be.

But Zach soon discovers that he is the long-foretold Curse-Breaker, the one who is meant to end the werewolf curse forever. . . and his family is ready to fight tooth and nail to stop him.

With the help of his cousin Cameron, Zach finds himself caught up in a vicious struggle to break the Curse before time runs out, a fight which almost costs Cameron his life and threatens to destroy everything Zach has learned to love.

In the midst of his fear and heartache, Zach is forced to decide exactly what he truly cares about, and whether he has the courage to fight for it.

Sixteen-year-old Keegan is struggling to keep her huge secret from her friends--she's an elf, descended from a long line of elves that live in secrecy alongside humans.

In elfin society, mates are predetermined but not allowed to meet until they are eighteen.  Against tradition, Keegan's brother Thaddeus told her Rourk's name because his visions warned him she'd need Rourk's protection, especially since Keegan will play a key role in the coming war between the dark and light elves.

Rourk finds himself drawn to Keegan's side every time she thinks his name. He wants to talk to her but remains in the shadows, silently guarding her every time she mentally beckons him. A twist of fate thrusts the two of them together when Rourk is forced to step up his protection and make his presence known.

An ancient prophecy deeply entwines Keegan's family and the future of their society. Somehow they must find a way to thwart fate and win the battle...without losing Keegan. With war brewing, and dark forces aligning, will Keegan and Rourk ever have the life together that they both desire?
