Hodge Podge of Fiction

Good Morning Fans, today is a hodge podge of goodies. I have some action, some men's adventure, and much much more!!! Enjoy!

SEAL Team Bravo: Black Ops - The First Trilogy (Book 1-3)
Bravo Platoon, SEAL Team 7, parachutes into action, but a question mark hangs over their Chief Petty Officer, Kyle Nolan. Can he still cut it? Nolan is the glue that holds the platoon together. That is, until the murder of his wife started to tear him apart. If he comes unstuck during the mission, the lives of them all are in danger. There is no time to make changes, they have to press forward, the mission must continue no matter what. They have to succeed against a vicious and clever enemy. As they get closer, they face a succession of daunting and overwhelming obstacles to uncover the truth. Yet even their commanders refuse to believe the damning evidence that Bravo sends back. Almost alone and unaided, they must hunt down and pursue their enemy to the snowy wastes of the Hindu Kush and stop a catastrophic terrorist attack.

The death of DEA agent in a squalid Mexican town forces the world’s most elite fighting force to take action. This time, the brutal and callous drug traffickers who haunt the dark underbelly of Ciudad Juarez have gone too far. For the dead agent was the nephew of US Marine Corps Major General Hicks. With links to the SEALs, he insists on nothing but the best to avenge his nephew. A mission is planned to hunt down and destroy the drug cartel, led by Chief Kyle Nolan. Yet the Mexican end of the operation is only the first part of the mission. When they discover the traffickers have a fortified facility close to Medellin, Colombia, the mission brief must change.

When the US learns of a planned genocidal attack by Middle East terrorists, Bravo Platoon is called in. They must fight their way through to a besieged Syrian town to bring out the Israeli agent who first flagged the threat. Leaving behind a long, bloody trail of Syrian bodies, they battle their way out to carry the data back for analysis by NSA. The recovered decrypts show a rogue element of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, the Pasdaran, is building a dirty bomb, to be used on Israel and the US. Bravo Platoon is sent back into action, this time to Iran, the terror capital of the world and America’s sworn enemy. They must locate and destroy the bomb making facility before the weapons can be deployed.

Edges of Empires
Short story (9428 words)

Ellie is a covert operations security contractor. She is working in Central Asia when she hears her daughter has been murdered. Died is what the email her company sends her says, overdosed on heroin, but murdered is what Ellie feels it is. Ellie and her girlfriend Sameh decide they have to kill the man responsible. They don’t think, don’t hesitate, simply fly to Ellie’s old home and set about doing what they need to.

This is a contemporary Western story about honor and revenge.

This is a short story.

From All Sides
A short story about a man in a war, told from different perspectives, through different eyes, thru different tones, and with different mediums. A life through snapshots, a story captured from many sides.

Benson Aramace is a soldier who is honorable, optimistic, and a man with a goal: to get home to his wife Rita.

This war is taking it's toll on Benson. This conflict will push him to the limit, and this story is a glimpse of how this tour affects him, his wife, and others around him. From his perspective, the perspective of the other side, and beyond. What makes Benson a human? What makes him different? What makes him the same? What is he willing to give, to sacrifice to see his wife safe and happy?

An exercise in multi-faceted story telling, this short narrative should surprise, entertain, and hopefully be enjoyed.

The Riproar
Oliver Lewis' debut novel The Riproar is the story of Leopold John, a former fighter pilot in the Royal Air Force, his love affair with his artist girlfriend in Paris, and his capture and torture when he was shot down during the first Gulf War. Oliver Lewis has written a compelling and readable book about love, war, art, horror and madness.

Against A Dark Shore
The hard-fought Anglo-American War of 1812 has ended.

And in its bitter aftermath, the merchant adventurer Matthew Milburn, born English but forced by circumstances to become an American, is desperately trying to repair his fortunes.

But fate is against him.

A chance remark at a Governor's reception makes an enemy out of the influential Commander Anthony Craig.

Fleeing from Craig, Matthew runs into the first flaring of a slave uprising among the plantations of the Bahamas.

It needs only the challenge of the treacherous agitator de Gonaives, a Haitian bent on driving the British from the Bahamas, to involve Matthew and his crew in a desperate struggle to save an entrancing young girl and her family from a terrible fate.

And this beautiful haven is about to become a cold-blooded death trap.

Written against the sultry background of early 19th-century Caribbean, this is the fourth novel in the continuing story of Matthew and Son, the Savannah shippers.

'Against A Dark Shore' is the action-packed sequel to 'In The Dark Of The Moon' and 'Ride The Dark Tide': an enthralling adventure story set against the violent backdrop of 19th-century warfare and piracy.

Real Lies
Nook Link
When her partner calls her early Saturday morning to report a body in La Jolla Cove, rescue diver Kristin Castaño's only worry is losing sleep. Once she's in the water all that changes.

REAL LIES is a microfiction short story (under 10 pages)

Thirsty Planet
Nook Link
This page turning thriller takes place in two time periods and is packed with political corruption, greed, murder, and even an inter-century love affair. It was a finalist for the prestigious Montaigne Medal award for thought provoking literature. Time travel is central to the story, but its true genre is "political and religious literary fiction," rather than pure "science fiction." This is a fast moving mystery story about broken politics and the future of the Earth, a multi-century whodunnit with theological overtones. And for people who like literary puzzles there is an "Old Testament" Exodus allegory, with biblical clues to be found in some of the key character's names.

Corpalism is an exciting and often funny mixture of timely political commentary that moves in a believable way, between fact and fiction.
The book begins in a dystopian world – a casually dark and callous future wrought by unchecked corporate greed.
The timeline moves back and forth 20 years, using inter connected characters and storylines. Situational humour lightens the mood and the characters are well-crafted, individual and interesting; ranging from the cynically evil, through the surprisingly likeable to the positively evangelical.
Corpalism remonstrates against the evil of corporate greed, puts forward a credible alternative to the duopoly of current party politics and offers hope of an alternative future if we act now.
A unique experience – a page turner with a message.

Access to Power
Three weeks before a crucial senatorial election, a man is gunned down execution-style in a D.C. office. Police are quick to call it a case of robbery gone bad, but Frank Miles suspects something far more sinister behind the murder of his business partner.

Washington's most feared image maker, Frank's ruthless media manipulation has earned him countless admirers...and just as many enemies. Now, for the first time in his life, Frank's met his match in a shadowy schemer as clever as himself--but far more lethal.

As the body count rises, Frank becomes the U.S. Attorney's chief suspect--and a cunning killer's next target. From the underground tunnels networking Capitol Hill to the dome high above, his race for the truth--and his life--will bring him face-to-face with power at its deadliest extremes--where winning isn't's the only thing.

With his debut novel, L.A. Times bestselling author Robert Ellis raises the stakes in a heart pounding thriller set in Washington that feels so inside and so twisted it reeks of the darkest truth.

Dan Freeman loves horror movies. After seeing the movie "Stalker," he gets very enthusiastic about it, emulating the title character and following innocent people around for fun and thrills. He wants to see how close he can get without getting caught. Ten yards? Ten feet? Close enough to smell perfume? Close enough to touch?

Dan suspects his girlfriend of cheating on him. One night, while following her using his newfound skills, Dan finds out an awful truth.

Now the stalker becomes the stalked.

HIGH TREASON (A Military Thriller)

With a well known national leader as their inside man close to the White House, funding from a right wing organization and weapons supplied by China, they are well positioned to succeed.
The only clue of the conspirators' plans is dropped into the hands of Vice President Maggie Shields who launches an investigative task force to discover its meaning. With the help of General Robb Harris they probe into the military hierarchy discovering a multi-layered conspiracy.
Dissent among the United States Military, American patriots willing to lead their country to war, and foreign conspirators hungry to reap the spoils create a landscape ripe for rebellion. Long Rainy Nights

“Some say that every great truth is painfully revealed. Perhaps this is so, perhaps not. All I can say is that, at least in my case, it didn’t happen that way. If the Truth was ever revealed to me, it happened one morning, when I was at home and about to hang out the washing on my balcony. Back then, it wasn’t the least bit painful, but rather surprising and reassuring, like bumping into an old friend in a foreign city.”

Every town keeps secrets. Stored up for generations, they grow like moss in dark corners: in the damp cellars of houses or locked rooms and in awkward silences. These secrets are sometimes banal and sometimes terrible, but they are always present in a small community where everything is known but nobody knows anything.

In 1961, Rogelio Villanueva, who had been missing for more than twenty years, returned to his hometown to take over the family business. In 1967, he was found in his bath, having bled to death. There was a note with a cryptic message in the sink and he had two unusual purple discolorations under his chin.

'Long Rainy Nights' is the story of a crime which is just the climax to a chain of past crimes. It’s a tale about how the most terrible secrets of a town were cooked up and left to simmer. But, above all, it’s a story about a father’s love for his daughter and the lengths he will go to for it.
