The Faithless: A Political Thriller (Part 1)
$3.99 Nook Link for all 5 parts

How many votes does it take to become President of the United States?

The answer, as Jack Patton learned from his father at an early age, is just 270... the key is making sure they’re the right 270 votes. When his father passes away, Jack comes up with a plan to honor the man in a way that respects his small-town, politically active legacy: by becoming one of the select few chosen as a member of the electoral college, the only people in the country whose vote directly decides the presidential election.

But someone else has a different plan in mind... one that could not only put Jack in the center of a deadly political conspiracy, but could also result in one of the most audacious thefts of all time: the stealing of the presidency.

As she approaches friends of her aunt to nail down the truth, she encounters a charismatic fireman, a temperamental policeman, and the return of her ex-best friend who served a prison stint for drug diversion.

To make matters worse, the man she’s falling in love with may be a murderer.

WBI: Witches Bureau of Investigation
By chance, eleven-year-old twins Nate and Herman Howe meet Mrs. Weatherby, a retired member of the Los Angeles branch of Witches Bureau of Investigation. She reaches out to her old colleagues, for information and assistance, but they soon uncover a dangerous plot that threatens the safety of the entire world. The Bureau may be compromised, so it's up to Mrs. Weatherby's band of old agents to follow the clues and keep the horrors of history from resurfacing.

The Embroidered Corpse (A Belinda Lawrence Mystery)
In a quiet English village two bodies are discovered.
Both murdered.
But it is the manner of the death that most startles amateur detective Belinda Lawrence.
They were both slain in a way that perfectly replicates the death a medieval English king.
But why?
There appears to be no motive for so elaborate a crime.

But after she stumbles across a mysterious ancient tapestry, Belinda Lawrence and her associate Hazel Whitby are drawn into a terrifying conspiracy involving a bizarre religious cult, an enigmatic academic, a group of secretive monks -- and a mystery that dates back nearly a thousand years old.
And it soon becomes apparent that 'The Embroidered Corpse' will not be the last dead body - Belinda's own life is at stake.
‘The Embroidered Corpse’ is a brilliant re-invention of the classic English village murder mystery, following on from the best-selling 'Capable of Murder'.

It's a story of human trafficking and sex slavery, a mother's love for her son, and the redemption of a man intent on escaping his past. From the shadows of migrant stash houses to the fertile fields of the San Joaquin Valley, 'Illegal' delivers a searing mix of live-wire prose, shattering violence, and rich characterization. Set against larger social issues, this is a masterful tale from one of the most skillful practitioners of the modern thriller.

NO HERO - Myles Morgan Undercover
Nook Link

Myles Morgan never wanted to be an undercover detective. The very idea of becoming a police officer was ludicrous. It made him feel sick.

Myles Morgan has always wanted to be the next Marlon Brando. That was his vocation. Heck, he'd settle for being Al Pacino, Russell Crowe, or even Jude Law. But Myles hasn't had the breaks in the acting world.

For years he's stuck it out, working occasionally in small-time productions. Then he gets a part, the lead, in The Hound Of The Baskervilles. He's thrilled to be playing the legendary Sherlock Holmes.

He's hoping that the production will change his life. It will. But not in a way he could ever have expected.

NO HERO is a short story about the crime that led to an underachieving actor becoming an undercover cop and is an introduction to the MYLES UNDERCOVER series.
He's the cheekiest cop you'll ever meet.

A Murder in Auschwitz

An SS officer is found standing over the body of a comrade, a smoking pistol still in his hand, a murder in a place of murders. His pleas of innocence force a court martial and he knows that there is only one man in the camp capable of defending him; a Jewish prisoner called Manfred Meyer.

Manfred Meyer is forced to build a defence for him in his court martial. Drawing on his years of experience as a criminal lawyer in Berlin, Meyer must unravel the deceit and interpret the lies that infect the concentration camp and work to have him found not guilty.

Following Meyer and his family through their lives in Berlin, the Nazi rise to power and their inevitable arrest and incarceration in Auschwitz, Meyer will do almost anything to see his wife and children. Almost anything.
Can his abilities as a lawyer interpret the facts of this seemingly impossible case? As a Jew, should he even defend an SS officer? And is he actually guilty of this crime?

But the officer must be found innocent if Meyer is to see his family again.
This story follows Manfred Meyer, from his beginnings as a lawyer in 1930s Berlin after being taken under the wing of the city's most capable defence lawyer in the most prestigious law firm in Germany, Bauer & Bauer.
Meyer's confidence and experience build as his cases become more complex and more difficult to defend. His success is widespread and he, his wife Klara and their twin daughters live a comfortable life in the capital.

But Germany is changing. The Nazi Party has come to power and Meyer's Jewish heritage has become a crime. Life becomes more and more difficult until even in spite of Meyer's connections he is forced to leave his position as Bauer & Bauer's pre-eminent lawyer.
Then, one night, the inevitable knock at the door heralds the long train journey to the east and the death camps of Poland for Meyer, his wife and his children.

Split from his family on arrival, Meyer does what he can to survive in a place designed for death. He stays alive with help from the other inmates he has befriended, helping each other through the long days of hard labour, his only wish being that he could see his family again. A forlorn hope until circumstance throws a real chance his way.

The Ragtime Kid: A Ragtime Mystery (Ragtime Mystery Trilogy)

Brun Campbell, a 15-year-old piano-playing fool, hears Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag” played one 1898 afternoon in Oklahoma City. It’s destiny calling. Asking for ragtime lessons, he’s told, “No, Ragtime is colored music.” So Brun runs away from the family farm to Sedalia, Missouri, to persuade Joplin to take him on as a pupil. What Brun doesn’t expect is to trip over the body of a young woman. He thoughtlessly picks up a couple of items before he rushes away from the murder scene.

When Edward Fitzgerald, a man who befriended Brun his first night in town, is arrested for the woman’s murder, Brun is certain he’s innocent. But if the boy shows anyone the things he pocketed at the scene—things he now knows belonged to Scott Joplin—he’ll point the finger at the composer...and himself.
Brun decides to get Fitzgerald, Joplin, and himself off the hook by finding the real killer, but for that he eventually needs some help from Dr. Overstreet, the alcoholic town mayor; and John Stark, a man pushing sixty, who’s been employing Brun at his music store.

Sedalia is rife with suspects, some of them opportunists bent on stealing Joplin’s music. And then there are the girls and women—mysteries to Brun—like a teenager seized with religious fever, a couple of mischievous prostitutes, and an attractive, ambitious young woman with a hint of scarlet in her past, who further complicate his pursuit of the killer.

  1. The “the death camps of Poland” is misleading and insulting.

Poland is not perfect but we have had death camps. They were the German death camps imposed on occupied Poland.
