One Foot Outside the Door

One Foot Outside the Door
by Vina St. Fran
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Good lovin’ is easy…But true happiness is harder to
To anyone on the outside looking in through the door of Cyndarella
Worthy’s life, it looks like she’s got it all. At thirty-two, she’s beautiful and successful, with a handsome brother lover, Thad Mitchell. But deep in her heart, she holds a candle for Bashar Bazzi, the Chaldean immigrant she loved ten years ago. Bashar left for Iraq and she never saw him again, and she assumes he made a marriage within his own community without a backward glance.
Cyn’s girlfriends, Tavie, Denise and Vette, know that their sister still carries the scars of Bashar, but they pray she’ll find love and peace with Thad. Anyway, they’ve got issues too: Tavie’s dating smart school principal, Mack Dooley, but she can’t escape the rumors that he’s playing around; Denise’s marriage to Sean is under pressure because she hasn’t conceived a second child; Vette’s dating an older guy, Louis Burns, but wonders if she’ll ever get a ring on her finger.
When Thad proposes to Cyn and she accepts, it looks like this sister’s finally on her way to true happiness. But no sooner are the celebrations done, when there’s trouble—Bashar Bazzi is home, and he’s ready to settle his unfinished business with Cyn…

Stay tuned after this interview for my review!

Vina, thank you so much for being here today. Tell me a little about yourself?

I am from the Midwest and I love to read a good Romance novel! I enjoy writing about the complexities in relationships involving characters from different ethnic backgrounds. I like writing about strong female characters who have flaws, but they have spunk, determination and sex appeal and not afraid to go after what they need in the name of love!

Where did you come up with the idea for this series?

I grew up in Southfield, Michigan, a small suburb outside of Detroit.  At the time, it was an upper middle-class neighborhood with lots of diversity. There were Jewish, African-American, Caucasian, and Chaldean families prevalent throughout my subdivision and as a community as a whole. It was a really fun time! The interaction with my peers during the early years helped me learn so much about myself as well as others around me.  This played a role in me writing the Amorous Trilogy.

Who was your favorite character to write?

Every character in this series remains very special to me. However, Cyndarella Worthy was my favorite for Book One. She is a high-strung, motivated, successful woman who really wants to have it all. She’s tough, yet vulnerable when it comes to love, and she hates that! Octavia Slade, is a strong second, and as you read the series, I am sure other readers will feel the same way too!

What’s your favorite part of being an author?

Writing is such a personal craft for each author. From inception to the end, there are challenges that comes your way in the process, and before the end of the story, you’ve detoured into another place where you didn’t intend on going. The freedom of having creative control and the ability to articulate that gift to an audience is quite rewarding!
Well then, let’s show off this book…

Thank you so much for being here!
You are welcome! Thanks for having me!

This is a first time author for me. I actually enjoyed this story. I loved how the women each stood on their own. They were educated, smart and realistic. There was no damsel needing a man. This story was heart breaking in some parts. The author conveyed the emotions well.
"Women lie when they say size don't matter, Cyn reasoned."
Cyn was awesome. She knew what she wanted and though she was slightly confused at times when it came to the men in her life, it was a very good story. This is a great read and worth picking up. You can relate with the women, you get great backgrounds on them and I have a feeling this is going to be a good series.
